Why they call it Arches National Park!
We are starting a new collection. Our first was MOONS. This will be HORSES! Almost daily during our photo journey, we would stop whenever we saw these fabulous creatures along the side of the road. (Now in the back of Horses Grazing in Montana you may think there are more horses but actually they are DEER!)
By the way, the moon collection is one of the galleries on this websites. Scroll over to the name plate on the left and click to the gallery called MOONS!
Our drive through Big Sky Montana left us also calling it Big Lakes Montana. The spectacular waters of this beautiful state were accented with the reflections of the clouds and the sunshine. Once again, thank you Mother Nature!
The daily ritual of editing photos has begun – attempting to shave down the 6245 photos into a few hundred for sharing. In the meantime, a few favorites are popping out once in a while. Have you had a chance to see the original galleries here on the website? Scroll over to the name plate on the left and click to the gallery of your choice!
Hot “off the press” here’s John’s first released photo – one of over 6000 taken on our fabulous photo journey. When we planned a major portion of our trip to be in the Moab area of Utah – we had NO idea what we were in store for. The park has over 2000 of these amazing arches. Many can be seen as one drives through and some can be seen with long and arduous hikes to the most remote areas of the park (so we have been told).
John’s currently spending hours daily, culling through the photos, and picking his favorites to share on the website. In the meantime, if you have not already fully perused PhotosbyJohnGlass.com, scroll over to the left and click on the name and then choose a gallery and “Hit the Road” with John. He sure enjoys sharing this beauty with you.
All his photos are available in various sizes. If you need home decoration or gifts – let us know. See our PURCHASE page for details.
We arrived home proudly capturing our final mileage count – 5300! Now the real work begins – John has over 6000 photos from the trip… We should be sharing those in the not too distant future… Leave any comments you’d like so we know you have seen this, ok?
We found this amazing retreat from my sister Laura. Dinner and Breakfast/lunch in a fully organic restaurant, Hell’s Backbone Grill. John loved this area in the seventies when he came here to fish. We had both the luxury of Boulder Mountain Lodge and the beauty of Utah’s scenic red rock canyon country. Then we had the next night in a rustic campsite under the moon. We wind down our journey today with a drive through Bryce and Zion and shooting the full moon at sunset tonight.
Six hours off roading through the stunning golden red hills of Potash and along the Colorado River brought us to the Gooseneck of the river. John shot hundreds upon hundreds of photos. This is one bend we discovered of the Colorado. www.PhotosByJohnGlass.com
The Canyonlands area shares astounding canyons that John and I find to be in steep competition with the “Grand” Canyon. We continue to be astonished that we knew so little of this remarkable landscaped gift from Mother Nature. We have been switching back and forth from Arches and Canyonlands for sunrise and sunset, they are so close to one another with exquisite nature all along the way.
Just outside Canyonlands, we found this amazing Indian Creek Area. “Hidden Gem” – John describes it. We actually spent over 2 hours, thinking we were in a National Park – it’s soooo amazing.
This early morning sunrise filmed in the Mesa Verde National Park, includes a beautiful elk bugling in the distance. (The bugle is prominent at .20 seconds and a few other places.) www.PhotosByJohnGlass.com
